10 of the most anticipated video games in 2023

After winning Game of the Year with Elden Ring, everyone’s eyes are on the next From software release. Interestingly, the company decided to go back to its roots with the first successful franchise they had: Armored Core. Its creators confirmed that this saga of mechs (giant robots) against huge bosses will be influenced by “Souls” type games, which the company has perfected in the last decade. Even without a defined date, the game is expected for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.

Blizzard

Nearly three and a half years after it was announced, fans are eager to finally get to play the newest entry into the world of Diablo. With the choice of five different classes (Barbarian, Sorcerer, Druid, Rogue, and Necromancer), hundreds of skills, and a vast world, players will fight in a system that blends Diablo 3’s most beloved mechanics with the signature action that set its mark. Devil Diablo 4 will be out on June 6. It can be obtained for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.

Square Enix

Being one of the most popular RPG franchises in the world (second only to Pokémon) ensures that the entire industry has an eye on the next Final Fantasy releases. Seven years after the previous entry, Final Fantasy 16 takes fans back to a world of medieval fantasy, with a story filled with intrigue and war between nations. The game will arrive on June 22. It will be exclusive to PlayStation 5 for at least one year.

Hogwarts Legacy

The dream of any Harry Potter fan : a video game that allows you to be a Hogwarts student, customizing your character, choosing your classes, creating your adventure from scratch with the possibility of exploring the magical world at your leisure and pace. It is a pity that it will arrive when thousands of fans do not want to give more income to the author of the saga, JK Rowling.

Aside from the possible boycott, Hogwarts Legacy promises to be this dream game. Set in the 19th century, our character will be able to create his own adventure, to the point of deciding whether he will be a magician on the side of the heroes or fall into the possibilities of darkness. After some delays, it’s coming to PS5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X on February 10, PS4 and Xbox One on April 4, and Nintendo Switch on July 25.

Hollow Knight: Silksong

In 2017, Hollow Knight took the video game industry by storm, becoming an indie game with blockbuster success. It gave weight to that sector of the gamer universe and became an emblem. It’s been four years since Team Cherry announced that an expansion to the game would now be developed as a sequel. With no set date, fans know this will be the year they can finally return to this iconic Metroidvania.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

Superheroes are not the ones who have the best time in the gamer world, with few exceptions (Batman with his Arkham saga). Insomniac Games showed in 2018 that they know how to do it with their acclaimed Spider-Man game After the spin-off Spider-Man: Miles Morales, the sequel to the original title will allow him to handle both himself and the original Spider-Man, Peter Parker. As one of the first exclusive titles for the next generation, it’s going to be very interesting to see how the studio renews the proposal in our spring.

Resident Evil 4

Following the trend of recreating classic Resident Evil games, Capcom finally came up with one of the most iconic in the franchise: Resident Evil 4. The story of Leon S. Kennedy rescuing the daughter of the President of the United States was a symbol of the PlayStation 2 era and now it is modernized for the new generations.

In their announcement, Capcom claimed that they “reimagined the game’s story while keeping the essence of its direction, modernizing the graphics and bringing the controls up to today’s standards.” The title will arrive on March 24 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

For decades Star Wars lacked a classic (and good) third-person adventure that would allow you to become the Jedi everyone wanted to be. That changed in 2019 with Respawn Entertainment’s smash hit Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. The story of Cal Kestis, a Jedi survivor of the purge who seeks his place in this new galaxy, will explore new planets and challenges in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. The title will arrive on PlayStation 5, PC and Xbox Series X on March 17.

Starfield

Bethesda Game Studios has been promising its next great adventure at the level of The Elder Scrolls or Fallout for a long time. Despite being delayed, expectations for Starfield have not dropped and we are finally close to being able to play it.

Todd Howard, the game’s director, has already classified it as Skyrim in space. A game “about hope, shared humanity, and the search for answers to the great mysteries of life”, he declared. In it, they will be able to explore more than 1000 different planets, interact with different factions and immerse themselves in one of the more detailed titles than the study has done. It is expected to launch in the first half of this year for PC and Xbox Series X. It will also be available from day one on the GamePass subscription service.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

It is not an exaggeration to say that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild changed the video game industry in 2017. Now, an expansion that has become a sequel, Tears of The Kingdom, will seek to load that backpack and offer a new experience in one of the world’s most loved for Nintendo Switch users. Link and Zelda’s classic adventure will take a dark path, in a title that will reuse what was created in the previous game to expand on their characters and how the world they live in changes. Coming to Nintendo Switch on May 12.
